You might have heard the term antisnap locks but what are they ? In approximately 2012 there was a number of house burglaries taking place in West Yorkshire using a quick and easy method to open euro cylinder locks called lock snapping. The British Standard locks at the time were not designed to withstand this type of attack and so the anti-snap lock was developed. Over time the lock manufacturers have further developed these type of locks and to make it easier for customers to understand what to look for they now use a star system on the lock to identify the type it is. So for example the only locks that have been specifically designed to withstand a snapping attack are 3 star euro cylinders (see the 3 stars on the lock above) and of these cylinders the 3 star diamond grade is the highest security grade. Since the introduction of the 3 star diamond grade cylinder I am not aware of any of these locks being snapped.
